Our Christmas!

This is how our FUN Christmas went. Simon got jealous and stole "baby Jesus" from "Mary" and swung him around his head. "Joseph" aka Oliver seems amused by this.

The "Wise man" and "Shepherd" used their used their staffs as guns and guitars. Then "Superman" showed up disguised as a wise man/shepherd (far right). This doesn't seem to amuse "Joseph" at all though.

We frosted cookies for Santa..........

.....and then went and saw him just so the kids could tell him one more time how good they really were all year. Liars!

Then Oliver and Simon got to open their Christmas Eve PJ's that Gramma Platt make them every year.

Oliver left his cookies and a note for Santa by the fireplace so he would see them. I had to promise Oliver that I wouldn't make a fire before he would go to bed. He didn't want Santa to get burned. Then I made some "Go to bed Bread" and went to bed myself so Santa could come.

He came, but so did the "Bread Monster."

And since this guy is .."kind of a big deal" he got some nose and ear trimmers. (Not that he'd use them.)

Jarred would have got some PJ's too had they made 'em in his size.

As always Hendrix is left wondering what all the fuss was about.
The End.

Does Peter Pan work for Santa?

My wonderful friend Amanda suggested I check out "Peter Pan Man." So here he is in all his glory. His real name is Randy Constan and I'm not sure if he's serious or not. Can you believe he likes girls too. He claims to be engaged to one. I know, I was shocked too. You've got to check this guy out! Oh My Gosh! Merry Christmas!

You're not the only one!

So we did something really stupid last week and went to Disney Land again. I know I said I wouldn't do it again until the kids were much older, but I just couldn't resist all the Christmas magic that would be there so we went. But guess who we ran into on our second day there?

I just wanted to tell my friend Amy that we're cool enough to run into famous people too. She always sees the celebrities at Disney Land. So I'm going to give you all the secret to seeing famous people at DL. Keep and eye out for the Disney workers in plaid, they'll be carrying a candle or a whip or something. They do the guided celebrity tours. Well actually anyone can pay extra to have one of these tours, but it's usually the Celebs. So now ya know the secret.

Things I learned Yesterday.

Here's some things I learned Yesterday:
A. My friend Lorena is much smarter than me.
B. Boogers are water proof.
C. I need more than two diapers in the diaper bag.
D. If given the chance, my friends will try to and succeed at creeping me out on my blog.
(ie; "I miss the way you smell" come on, that's creepy. Who left that present?)

Pretend it's my Birthday still.

So the girls took me out for my birthday tonight and boy did we have fun! We went to "Macayo's Depot Cantina" in Tempe, my favorite place to eat. Not because the food is fantastic, I just love the atmosphere. Everything is all old and broken looking and the train goes right by it. Well it was just like any other night out with the girls, food, laughing, and dirty jokes when it happened. Andrea PASSED OUT! Of course being the girls that we are and because she is pregnant we freaked out and had the manager of the restaurant call the paramedics.

This is Andrea saying she's "fine!" It happened last time she was pregnant too. She's a little mad and embarrassed. But common girl, YOU PASSED OUT! We only did it because we care.

Of course none of us could pass up the opportunity to take pictures so we could blog it as our "eventful night out."

So the fire truck got there and checked her out. Took her blood pressure and everything. It turned out she was fine thank goodness. I guess Andrea was right after all, but better safe than sorry, right?

Bravest Little Man!

Yesterday Oliver had his little friend Isabel come over and play after school. They played so well and had so much fun, but right be fore Margo came to pick up Isabel disaster struck. Oliver was running along our neighbors railroad ties that separate our yards and totally biffed it. I ran over to survey the damage and discovered he had the worst cut I've ever seen! Normally I would have freaked out and made things worse, but I actually held it together and took him inside to fix things up. Little Isabel was fantastic at comforting poor Oliver and helping me doctor his wound. Upon cleaning it though, I discovered just how bad it was and decided to take him to Urgent Care as soon as Simon woke up from his nap. If he didn't bleed to death first.

The doctor looked at it as said he would need some stitches. Oliver discovered that holding his breath made him not feel any pain. Although it might have had more to do with the numbing cream they put on the cut rather than him actually holding his breath.

I couldn't believe how brave he was. He didn't even cry! My Oliver, the "King of Tears" did not shed even one tear during this whole ordeal at the "Urgent Care." What a brave little Man!

And here's the finished product. Five stitches. Of course he had to show everyone. He's real excited for his "Big Boy" scar. Daddy and his friend Cory made him feel real good about finally getting it.
Today things are back to normal for Oliver. You wouldn't even know that he had such and ordeal yesterday. I just hope he doesn't accidentally tear the stitches and re-open the wound.

That's the bathroom....

Today, Oliver's friend named Danny came over to play. Well I guess Danny needed to go to the bathroom so he came up to me and asked,"Hey do you have any bathrooms?" I said yes and told Oliver to hurry and show Danny the bathroom because he needed to go. Well Oliver, being the ever so obedient child that he is, quickly said, "OK, come here and look. This is the bathroom and see that, that is the toilet. It has water in it and that's where you put your pee. Then you flush it. This is the whole bathroom." I was laughing hysterically! Thanks Oliver, I can always count on you!

Unforgettable Birthday

Well, Sunday night before my Birthday, Jarred, the kids and I went to the Temple to see all the Christmas lights. On the way home Jarred was totally taking his time and driving slow and cruising around to look at house lights. I know how much he loves Christmas so I was being patient with him, but it was really getting annoying. Then we get home and to my GREAT surprise I see this done to my house. Jarred was stalling so my "Young Womens" group could surprise me.

Weeks ago at church I had forewarned all my "Young Women" that my 30th Birthday was coming and I expected something BIG like chalking my sidewalk or toilet papering my house. Well let me tell you that they did not disappoint. I couldn't believe that they would do all that for me! I freaking love those girls! Every single one of them. They have no idea how much this really meant to me.

These pictures don't really do this deed justice. It was quite the masterpiece. This is the garage door. I don't know how well you can see it, but it says "Happy Birthday Koe we love you." They also heart attacked my yard, but it was too dark to get a picture of.

And this is my basketball goal post. Jarred was so nice, he didn't even make me help clean it up. Thanks to all of my "Young Womens" for making my 30th Birthday truly unforgettable.

Happy First Birthday Simon Henry!!

Simon has become obsessed with bikes recently. He sat holding on to Olivers one night for two hours sucking his thumb perfectly content. So I thought, "Why not get him one for his birthday?" He thought that was GREAT idea.

And since I'm not big on "Parties" I just decided to make breakfast for the whole family and get the "Party" over with early. Coffee cake and breakfast quiche. I know it's his first birthday and all, but is he really gonna remember what a "Killer" party his first birthday was? No he's not, so why not just make it easy on mom.

So it was easy and he liked his coffee cake or as Grandma Platt likes to call it "breakfast cake." He could have done without the big dollop of "Cool Whip" on the top. Simon's not big on sweets.

But he sure is sweet!

Fried Turkey anyone?

Just a little advice, if anyone named Koe ever says, "Hey, let fry the Turkey's this year for Thanksgiving. It only takes 40 minutes and it's supposed to be really good." Please do not believe her. I repeat DO NOT believe her. But if you happen to want a Turkey like the one on "Christmas Vacation" and someone named Koe says, "Hey lets fry the Turkey's this year for Thanksgiving. It's supposed to be really yucky and dry, next to NO flavor at all." Please, by all means believe her and fry both of your Thanksgiving Turkeys.

This is the before Turkey. I get grossed out by Turkey's, not because it's a dead carcass or raw meat. That doesn't bother me. What grosses me out is that Turkey will forever look like a chubby naked baby to me. Now you're grossed out too.

Seriously, Turkey frying is just a bad idea. Did you know that the oil heats up by like 50 degrees or more as soon as you add the cold Turkey? Well, it does and that's one of the reasons it's so dangerous. The oil is not supposed to get above 400 degrees, but you put the Turkey in at 325 and then immediately it heats up to 375 or higher! But after frying for 45 minute in 325 degree oil the 13 lb Turkey was still not done in time for Thanksgiving dinner at 5:00pm. I still think my brother Jeremy and husband Jarred are the two bravest men in Mesa for attempting this dangerous task. I think I'll try my luck next year and have a group of boy scouts cook it in their Turkey pit. What are the odds of them blowing my Turkey up twice?

Play date in Gilbert

Today we went to my friend Katie's parents house in Gilbert to let the kids play. Let me tell you, the back yard at this house if HUGE and full of fun for all ages. Seriously, about 3 weekends ago Jarred and I and Katie and Her husband Cory went there to have fun without the kids. So we decided to go back today with the kids.

Simon attached himself to this wobbly little tricycle and was perfectly content to just sit there on it and look like a stud. Look at that face! Oh my gosh, I have to restrain myself on a constant basis to keep from hurting him with LOVE. I could just chew his chubb. When I was pregnant with Oliver, Jarred was reading a pregnancy book for husbands he ordered off the internet and the man that wrote it said sometimes he would just be so overcome with love for his little child that he would want to "roll him up in a little ball and put him in his mouth." Yeah, I know that sounds weird, but I think I know what he meant.

Aren't little boys special? I have always just related better to them and tolerated them more than little girls. Just when I thought I couldn't possibly love little boys more and the crazy things they do, I have Simon and fall "Head-over-Heels" for them all over again.

This is Oliver's friend Kaylie. Her, her Mommy Ashley and little sister Lillie came to Katie's parents house too. They play so well together. Maybe it's because they go to the same preschool and church. Oliver loves to hold her hand and walk to primary. He also likes to take her on rides apparently.

And here's the "Mommies" Me, Katie and Ashley. Katie just found out she's having baby girl, and Ashley has a baby girl that is like 4 or 5 month younger than my Simon. We had so much fun today I can't wait to do it again. How about next week Katie?(jk)

So Annoying!

This is to all my friends and family with this little guy on their blog "comment post." Seriously, did you do it to torment me? Or maybe you just don't want me to leave a comment. Which ever it is, it's working. I NEVER get the little word thing right the first time, and I refuse to even try again after the fourth. Come on, the word thing is always something like mnmnnmun and jiiijjghi or wvwnvug only it's all screwed up so I can't tell which letter is which and it's never less than 7 characters. I hope I'm not the only one having this problem, but sadly I think I am. Otherwise everyone would have gotten rid of theirs by now. Or can they be gotten rid of? Maybe no one knows they have it. Maybe it's on mine. Well, I hope someone tells me if it IS on my "comment post" so I can do something about it if possible. It's so annoying!

We did IT!!

Jarred and I got a little "crazy" yesterday and stepped out side our comfort zone. We did something totally out of character and not our usual Sunday activity. Some of you may think it's a perfectly acceptable Sunday activity, but not us. Sunday's a day of REST for crying out loud! It took a little coaxing on my part, but Jarred eventually gave in. We did have to wait until the kids were in bed and asleep though. Could you imagine the catastrophe it would have been had they been awake? It took forever and we finally fell asleep around 3:30 am. I must say, Jarred has more stamina than me, I was exhausted! So what is it we did on Sunday? Well, we painted our front room RED of course.

This is our first experiment with "Color." It's a little dark, but I LOVE it. I'm sure my mom will hate it.

It's amazing how much more I like the room now.

It's about time!

Well as much as I hated to do it, I knew I had to. I was sick of hearing him complain. Yes, the child that was dying to look like Corbin Bleu begged me to cut his curls off.

He had lost most of his curl except for on the ends. It was starting to be kind of a mess

What a handsome boy!I think I like it this way much better.

Jarred got a haircut too. I think I like him this way much, much better too. I'm sure this will be an ongoing battle between the two of us. I have no idea why he even fights with me. He knows I will win every time because he eventually sees that I am right. Still, we have the same hair battle about 3 times a year.

Nachoooooooo!

Here's Nacho!

We decided to do a little "trick-or-treating" before we went to the "trunk-or treat" at our church building. Unfortunately the old farts on out street were exactly that, old farts. Only four people opened their doors. One lady opened her door and told us she had no candy. Come on people! Keep you lights off and don't open your door if you do not want to participate. It's common Halloween etiquette.

You can't tell by this picture, but Simon was actually getting a kick out of costume. He had a little smirk on his face the whole time and was incredibly pleasant.

Seriously, is this the best costume ever or what?

I'm so glad he was good so he didn't have to be a "Princess."
