"Terrible Tuesday"

Why is it that whenever you do something nice for your child they act terrible. Like take today for instance. I took Oliver to Hancock's Fabric so we could pick out some material for his Halloween costume. We find exactly what we are looking for, get it all cut out and proceed to the register. Once we get there the conversations goes something like this:
Oliver: Hey Mom, can I have some candy?
Mom: No Oliver, I'm getting you a costume.
Oliver: I want candy!
Mom: No.
Oliver: If you tell me no one more time you will get a flick!
Mom: Oliver, Do not talk to me like that. (stern)
Oliver: (hurts his arm on checkout counter and throws a fit to cause scene).
Mom: Oliver stop by the time I get to three or we will not buy your costume!
1,2,3!
Oliver: (Crying)!
I then have to take him to the sidewalk outside of the store and leave him there so I can go back in and pay. I'm not afraid that someone will kidnap him, come on who would kidnap a kid screaming that loud. Besides I can totally see him the whole time. I pay and shove the bag into my huge purse and tell him I put everything back. I also tell him he's not being "Nacho", he's being a "Pretty Princess" for Halloween. And he can no longer play with his boy cousins, only the girl ones. Hence the Princess picture at the top of this post. He cried for the next hour. In fact he just came in here just now, saw the princess picture and said to me:
Oliver: Mom, I don't want to be a Princess, I'm a boy.
Mom: Big deal, your gonna be a princess and wear a crown and lipstick.
Oliver: No, I don't want to. I'll be good now.
Mom: You better be the best boy ever and I'm putting this picture up in your room to remind you.
You all probably think that I'm the meanest mom ever and I probably am. That's fine. He'll probably throw numerous more fits, but at least I have leverage now to make him stop. Stay tuned to see what Oliver ends up being for Halloween. And now you know what made this "Terrible Tuesday."

Pillow wrestling

Should I be worried that my four year olds favorite pastime is smothering his brother with pillows? As you can see Simon isn't worried in the least. I think he is enjoying it actually. Just look at his face, pure jubilation. In fact, once Oliver stops, Simon chases him down and bugs him until Oliver wants to smother him again. He always tells me,"We're just pillow wrestling Koe." Yes, my four year old and I are on a first name basis. I'm not really sure how that happened, but he says it's because he loves me. Huh? What's a mom to do?

Sexy Livestock?

Maybe someone can help me out here. Why? Why is 'THAT' on top of that sign? Do some people find livestock arousing? Every time Jarred and I pass this stupid sign we wonder why someone chose to display it on their advertisement. It definitely wouldn't have been my first choice.

"Terrible Tuesday"

This picture always Cheers me up.

Today was not just a "Terrible Tuesday", but a very sad Tuesday. I woke up this morning at 6:45 (Terrible) to take Jarred to the airport(sad). He is going to spend the next four days in Boston at a "Flash Forward" convention. "What's a "Flash Forward" convention you ask?" I'm not really sure. From what I can tell it has something to do with 'Flash' and all super geeks go to talk about all the cool stuff they design in 'Flash'. I need to try to get used to him going to these things and spending this much time away from me, but I can't. When he went to the one last year, it was Sept. 11th and I was 7 months pregnant. I had imagined his plane crashed, he died and I had collected insurance money, I sold my house and moved in with my parents. I was literally in tears when I finally came back to reality. Probably just the hormones. I have no excuse for my imagination this time, he's just mugged and unconscious in an ally. What's wrong with me!? It's not that I want bad things to happen to him, it's just that I'm completely fearful of the 'worst' happening to him. With our track record, who can blame me. So please pray for us on this "Terrible Tuesday" that good luck will find us and Jarred will be able to return home safe to his family.

Buddy Bear

I picked up a very excited Oliver from school today with his new best friend "Buddy Bear." "Buddy" is the class mascot, so to speak. The kids all get a chance to take "Buddy " home and have an adventure of their own with "Buddy.' Then they get to record what they did in the "Buddy Book" and bring it back to class to share with the others. First "Buddy" had to take a nap and then we ate lunch at the wonderful 'Cafe Rio'....yummm! Now they are watching 'Toy Story 2.' This is probably going to be the most exciting day of Oliver's life, not because we did anything great, but because Oliver could share it all with his new best friend "Buddy."

Girlfriends

This is gonna sound really sad, but it is the truth. I've never really had any "girlfriends" that I could go hang out with until just recently (I guess I was just too awful). Two years ago to be exact; when we moved to Gilbert and Encanto. A group of us got together and went to get pedicures on Saturday while the boys were at the "Fathers and Sons" outing. It's so much more fun to get a pedicure when you have friends to sit and talk too. Can you guess which foot is mine?

A Little Ungrateful

All right. So I've been talking to friends and reading blogs and stuff over the past couple of days and I feel like an ungrateful Jerk. Really! I mean, I've been blessed with a wonderful husband that loves me more than anyone for some reason and not one, but two wonderful healthy little boys. We have a home and we have food. We have an eternal marriage and we are all healthy. We are ALL healthy! I think I've taken that for granted so much in the past. Here I am complaining about my truck, pool, garage door and whatever else goes wrong. I think I forget to recognize what we are blessed with. We're obliviously never meant to be rich and that's ok with me. If my trial here on Earth is to just have everything I own break or not work and never have any money, then fine. I'll take that as my trial. I would much rather have that rather than a broken family. We have our health and each other and that's good enough for me. So I just wanted to let you all know that I'm not ungrateful and things aren't all bad. I'm still gonna keep track of what I have spend money on every month though.

"Terrible Tuesdays"

Well it's not Tuesday, it's Wednesday. I'm a little late so I'll just get started. On Sunday I noticed that my already too long garments were hanging down to my shins and my butt crack was hanging out. For real! They are gross enough when they fit my body just right but now that they are all stretched out and falling off..... Super gross! "Okay. Ya, time for new ones." You may wonder why they are falling off, well it's because I wore them the whole time I was pregnant with Simon and now that I've lost some weight the don't fit. So, I haven't been able to get any new ones all week because of the whole car situation which is still unresolved and then doing hair.......equals no time. Today however, I managed to schedule out some time to go get some new ones and do a few other things that have been neglected. Not a problem.....or so I thought. Just as I'm finishing up my exercises this morning a car drives by. I hear a loud boom and my house shakes. I think they threw something at my house so I run outside and see nothing. "Hmmmmm...maybe it was bird?" Well, I take my shower and get ready to go pick up Oliver from pre-school and low and behold the f-ing garage door won't open. "Why" you ask? Because the giant spring that opens it has broken. "Are you freaking kidding me!" I swear it seems like one thing after another. So I pull the release cord and try to manually open it. It won't budge. "Why am I not surprised." The only way I can get it too move is to put a shovel under it and pry it open and couple of inches. So, I can't go get Oliver, my "sexy" underwear, or do any of the other errands I've been putting off until today. Luckily a friend could pick up Oliver, but I'm stuck in my house. "Son of a............." you know the rest.

Obsessed

All right, this is a little sad, but I have become completely obsessed with the "Twilight" series books. I know that they are kind of "high school", but I didn't read much in high school. Well, I finished the third one, "Eclipse" last weekend and I keep re-reading my favorite parts over, and over and over. Jarred thinks I'm weird. So for those of you who don't know about them, it's a vampire love story. I know that sounds weird, but it's actually really sweet. They were written by and LDS girl from Glendale named Stephenie Meyer, so there's nothing kinky in it. Anyway, I finished the 3rd one and the 4th doesn't come out until next August 2008! Ugh! What am I to do? Keep reading all three of them again and again I guess, unless someone can give me an idea of what to read next. Suggestions?

my celebrity look-a-like

What do you think? I know I have Tori Spellings "bug" eyes, but please don't tell me I have Christina Ricci's fivehead.

"Terrible Tuesdays"

Can you believe it's that time again. Time for another episode of "Terrible Tuesdays." It just kind of snuck up on me. I guess it's because Monday was a Holiday. Monday wasn't too bad though. We spent the weekend in Willcox. What's Willcox you ask? Well it is a place where god sends all the weather, camel toe and Truckers to in Arizona. Very strange place, but I usually end up enjoying myself whenever we go. Well, we got home on Monday and Tuesday I am once again car less. Why, you ask? Well, because Jarred's F' ing truck is once again broken. For the love of all that is good and sacred I wish he would just sell the truck! No, screw that! I will pay someone to steel it and burn the stupid thing. That would be cheaper than keeping it running another year. So today I fulfilled Oliver's life long dream of becoming Corbin Blue.
Yes that's right, we
permed his hair! Oh My Gosh! Just when I thought that kid couldn't get any cuter, I give him curls and, whaalaa!Cuter!
He's
a little disappointed that his doesn't stick up like Corbin's. Poor Oliver, he doesn't even realize that he's white and that's as close as we're gonna get. I guess Tuesday wasn't too "Terrible" after all.
