Bounce U

We had Oliver's 5th Birthday Party at Bounce U on Saturday and can I just tell you that it's Great! Kind of Pricey, but you seriously do nothing. Well, you get to play and have fun, but you don't have to set up or clean up. They do it all for you!

They show the kids a 5 minute video so they'll know the rules. Then they line the kids up and set them loose.

They have two BIG room full of stuff to do. In the first room the kids play in there's a tall climby thing with a trampoline at the bottom so no one gets hurt, basketball, a wrestle room with some hoops in it that Simon didn't want to leave and then this thing with two slides. Seriously, how can a kid get hurt in a padded room? Loved it!

In the second room there was boxing ring, a little obstacle course thing for the smaller kids, a BIG slide and then and obstacle course for the bigger kids.

Even the Parents could play. This is my oldest brother and his wife, they've been married for a while. All married couples should be required to do this once in a while.

Me and my sisters decided to go down the BIG slide and see what all the fuss was about. If Bompa can do it then we can right? Wrong, I almost peed! It was faster than I thought.

Even Jarred got in on the fun, but after playing for over an hour he and Simon were exhausted!


Simon wasn't to exhausted to kiss Emmie though. Kissing cousins? Oh my, just as long as they don't continue doing it in college like The Jones family. I wonder if this is what Jamie and Carlos looked like as infants? I hope not.


We went into yet another room to sing "Happy Birthday" and have cake and ice cream.


I think this was the first party I threw that I actually got to sit down and have cake at. Seriously, they do everything for you at this place!


They even wrote down what Oliver got and who gave it to him while I sat and watched and Jarred took pictures.

This is just some of the kids that were there. Some were too camera shy to be in the picture and some had left before we could take a picture. This was so fun. Thank you to everyone who came!

Happy Birthday Oliver!

Oliver was so excited for his birthday to come because he would finally be 5! Now he can go to BIG kid school after the summer is over. He also got to have two parties. One on his actual birthday for his school friends and the one on Saturday at the fabulous Bounce U for his family and a couple other friends.

He started the day off with a nice healthy Breakfast of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, eggs, maple sausage, and chocolate milk. We had a lot to do that morning so why not start if off with a sugar High.

This is how good we look in the morning. Jarred got up like 2 hours before everyone else so he should look a little better, but sadly he doesn't. Love ya Jer-bear!


Oliver loved his cake which was an original Koe creation. I don't really consider myself a creative person, but after I came up with this little ditty, I got to admit I might have some creative juices flowing now.

These are his friends playing and having a good time. The pool was a little chilly so we did more slip-n-slide than actual swimming.


And of course the kids loved the cake, but I think it had more to do with sprinkles that garnished the cupcakes rather than the ingenious arrangement. I'm convinced now that all you really need for a successful party is some activity and cupcakes. Sponge Bob push-pops wouldn't hurt either.

Come on, it's Mother's Day!

This is how Mother's Day went for me. It's started off rough, but ended pretty good.
6:30am- Oliver comes into my room to show me his cool Tattoos he got Friday from his Subway kids meal. Jarred doesn't budge.
6:32am- After agreeing with him I send him back to bed. Jarred is dead to the world.
6:40am- Woken up by Oliver playing Wii with the volume way up. Jarred is still motionless.
7:00am- Oliver comes in the room again to announce that Simon smells like pee. I tell him he always smells like pee because he wears a diaper. I check to makes sure Jarred is breathing because he has still not moved.
7:30am- Oliver, always the over-reactor comes in to say that Simon is stinking up the whole house with his pee smell. I tell him that's impossible because I can't smell anything. Jarred...zzzzzzzzzzzz.
7:50am- I start wondering why Oliver is so anxious. Then I decide to get up, brush my teeth and go check on things. Jarred hasn't even rolled over yet.
8:00am- After my morning ritual I start to leave my room and then I smell it!
8:01am- I discover the reason for all the concern. Simon has pooped and played with it, but remember that my Little Simon is a thumb sucker. Yeah, try not to puke! Jarred is just now stirring.
8:03am- Simon is in the tub, clothes and all, getting ready for detoxification.
8:05am- I strip Simon's bed and open all the windows in the house. Oliver was right. Jarred comes down the hall, but because he's a little congested he has no idea how rancid the house is so he never comes to check on anything.
8:25am- Simon detoxification is complete, now I must move on to the detox of his bed and room. I inform Jarred that I hope something equally gross happens to him on Father's Day.
8:26am- Jarred clues in that something has just happened.
8:30am- I make waffles with Oliver. Jarred's still a little slow and comes to take over.
9:00am- Eat and get ready for church.
11:10am- Go to church late due to big fight with Oliver. He's been up since 6:30 so he needs a nap.
2:10pm- Arrive home from church, change my clothes, inform Jarred that no one is to talk to me for the rest of the day and I sit my butt on the couch and read my new Book while Jarred fixes dinner and tends to the kids. Awwwww............perfect!

Water and Sun outing.......

Jarred and Oliver went to the Father's and son's camp out on Friday night, but Simon stayed home with me. Because of technical difficulties (Jarred left me with NO Keys)we were unable to do anything real special, but we still had a good time. A wonderful couple in our ward wanted to have a water play group at their house on Saturday so I took Simon.

The water in this cute little pool was actually freezing, but Simon didn't care. All he needed was something to splash the water with: notice the Popsicle stick in his chubby fist.

Jarred and Oliver got home from their camp out and went to watch Iron Man(Awesome!) with some friends at the Santan Mall, so Simon and I went along. I wanted to do some shopping for Mother's Day while they watched the movie.

Simon played in the water again and got SUPER Soaked. it was so cute. He kept wanting to put his sippie cup in every fountain that would shoot up.

We forgot the stroller and I refused to rent one of those germ infested race car ones so I had to carry Simon around the mall, to and from the car several times for changes of clothes and other stuff I would usually have in a stroller. My arms are still sore! The kid weighs over 30lbs. Hmmmmmmm..........This reminds me of the Disneyland trip we took in October. One day, when my boys are grown and I'm suffering from Relief Society Arms, I look back and enjoy those long after noons of endless carrying.

Funny story....

Monday my hot friend Vonda came over and we got to talking and telling stories. After I told her a particularly funny story, she asked me if I had blogged it or recorded it in my journal and I realized I hadn't yet. So I'm repenting and recording it now. Here it is.......

My freshman year at E.A.C. I was at an institute dance with my friend Sabrina. We went and started dancing by some of our friends and then I looked over and saw a guy dancing by himself and having fun. He was a little alternative and mysterious. My friend Sabrina said he had been at some other dances and she told me his name, but I forgot what she said. We went over to dance by him and soon after that he walked away. I saw him over by the drinking fountain and went to talk to him but he totally glared and me as soon as I came near him and left the dance. Yikes! What did I do? I would find out 5 years later............
Jarred and I had been married for a year and were living in Tempe. We didn't have a lot of closet space so I decided to go through all our clothes and get rid of some. Jarred pulled my favorite shirt out and proceeded to put it in the "get rid of" pile. I asked him what he was doing and he said how he had always hated when I wore it. It reminded him of this real witch of a girl he ran into at an institute dance before his mission. Then he proceeded to tell me a story of how he was just dancing like usual and this girl with long brown hair and a shirt like the one I had came up and started making fun of him, so he went to get a drink and wait for her to go away. Then he turned around to see that she had followed him out into the hall, so he got mad and left. He said he had always hated her and hated that shirt of mine because it reminded him of her. So I put the shirt on and started dancing and said, "Do you still hate me now?" At this point he put two and two together and Freaked out. I was the girl he had been hating all these years! I told him the real story and all was forgiven.

Like any Arizona native with relatives from UT, I love to bag on BYU, however Sunday nights news broadcast on NBC made me a little proud of the University.
Dr. Paul Johnston and his colleagues at BYU have created a "super" cookie for kids who are nutritionally-starved. It's made with this stuff called quinoa. Apparently one of these little cookies has as much calcium as a glass of Milk. When they taste tested them on children in Bolivia, giving them the choice of a popular snack they usually have or the cookie, they chose the cookie every time. Wow! So way to go Dr. Johnston and colleagues. My only question is when will quinoa be available to buy in bulk at the cannery for my year supply?

When did you first meet the 1st person on your list? Amy and Travis, we met at Kristal's parents cabin in Strawberry about 3 years ago, I think.

What do you like about the 4th person on your blog list? Well, Ashley and Tim are some of the nicest people I know. They're so cute because Tim is an out doorsy kind of guy and Ashley is tiny and trendy. One thing I really like is how Ashley can tell people things without offending them, she's just real easy going.

What do you like best about the 5th and 10th people on your list? As sad as this may sound, I don't know Brad and Suzanne very well, and they're my 1st cousins! Something I do like about them is that they put up with my CRAZY family so good every time we see them. That and I freaking adore their two kids. As long as we're on the kids subject, let me say how perfect Dane and Lorena's triplets are. Yup I said triplets. It's probably because Lorena's near perfect herself. You should see the kind of birthday parties this girl throws. Check out her Feb 16 post on her blog. Amazing!

How long have you known the 9th person on your list? I met Dane and Alysen when we bought our first house in 2002. We went to church with them and Alysen and I served in the Young Womens together. So 6 years I guess.

What impresses you about the 11th and 22nd people on your list? What impresses me about Danica and Brennan is how Danica, after being the oldest of a family of girls, still likes kids. I don't know Brennan very well, but he completely adores Danica and her family and I always see him treat everyone with the utmost respect. What a guy! Then Jessie and Casey, well Jessie is another one of my 1st cousins and I just love her. She's absolutely amazing and great example to me and the rest of her family. Their both super strong church members and FANTASTIC athletes.

What is a memory you have with the 23rd person on your list? Senior Prom! Jon took my poor butt to Prom and then we ate dough nuts and fell asleep watching Braveheart.

Say something nice about the last person on your list. Well........Whitney is a fantastic cook. She can literally make any dessert and Josh can win any race he runs. Good luck in Beijing!
